A Permian operator wanted to analyze its procedures and the combination of parameters that would enable it to minimize buckling and premature bit wear for heavy-weight drill pipe used to drill surface sections in the Delaware Basin.

The operator investigated the surface section heavy drill pipe failure with Corva’s Buckling Load Analysis app, which calculates hookload values for the buckling load in vertical and deviated orientations leveraging Corva’s Soft String T&D model.
